Executive Network Member Since (Year): 2014

Newly-Landed Position & Company: Chief Operating Officer, DSA Phototech, LLC

Prior to landing your new position, were you currently working or in-transition? I went into transition the end of February 2018 and started my new opportunity on June 14th.

How did you get connected to the company where you landed your new role? I attended a number of networking events along with spending 90% of my time arranging to have a coffee or lunch with friends and business associates. I had a networking breakfast and explained that I was looking for a private equity owned, middle-market company who needed a COO to help position a company for growth.  My friend told me about an opportunity and he provided me with an introduction.

In your estimation, what allowed you to stand-out during the interview process? I would have to say that having a track record for growing private / family owned middle market companies in the past was a driving factor along with my metal fabrication experience.

If you could give an in-transition executive any piece of advice, what would it be? Treat your transition like a job. Get up every morning and have 2-3 networking/job search activities planned (Coffees, Lunches or Phone Calls). Meet as many people as possible as you do not know where your next opportunity may come from. Always follow up and thank the person for taking time out of their busy day.  Be willing to always pay it forward and help others who are also in transition.

Bonus Question: What events and/or resources offered by the Executive Network have helped enhance your career? I think being involved with McDermott & Bull’s network and attending the various events allow one to feel the necessary support though challenging times.  I have met so many wonderful people through the Executive Network that I never would have otherwise met.
