Newly-Landed Position & Company: Outsourced Vice President of Sales, Sales Xceleration
Prior to landing your new position, were you currently working or in-transition? I went into transition at the end of April 2018.
How did you get connected to the company where you landed your new role? I applied to a job posting that I found on LinkedIn.
In your estimation, what allowed you to stand-out during the interview process? I spent a considerable amount of time gathering and describing my professional accomplishments – they were portrayed to create the image of an accomplished sales leader. I also demonstrated that I was in-sync with the mission of this company, which is to attract successful people with corporate experience and a servant attitude in supporting small and mid-sized businesses.
Did you encounter any challenges while being vetted for this new position? If so, how did you overcome them? Not specifically. I had to go through a behavioral test, though.
If you could give an in-transition executive any piece of advice, what would it be? In a world where everything is becoming a subscription service, highly-refined skills are very important. Fractional and outsourced jobs will become more common. There is great need for executive skills within small and mid-sized companies, and a fractional approach makes is affordable.
Bonus Question: What events and/or resources offered by the Executive Network have helped enhance your career? The networking meetings, for sure. High-quality attendees, as well as bright, devoted moderators. The support and help provided is really great. Almost embarrassing, as there is no way to truly pay back what you receive when in-transition. Really well done!
