Newly-Landed Position + Company: Senior Vice President of Marketing with ProPricer

Prior to landing your new position, were you currently working or in transition? In transition for the third time in seven years!

How did you get connected to the company where you landed your new role? I was contacted by a retained search recruiter.

What allowed you to stand out during the interview process? After I started at the company, I discovered that my interviewers had complete confidence in my abilities and they were impressed by my follow-up after each conversation. Additionally, a Vice President on my potential team felt all could genuinely learn from me. Those are the traits that allowed me to stand out from the other candidates.

Did you encounter any challenges while being vetted for this new position? I had to do an assessment called Predictive Index. The behavioral assessment was easy and like any other personal profiling tool similar to StrengthsFinder, DiSC, etc. However, the cognitive assessment was nerve-racking. I had previously passed on a role because I didn’t want to do this exact assessment, but this time I liked the company and role enough that I gave it a shot. Now, I’m about to go through training and certification in order to become an internal champion.

If you could give an in-transition executive any piece of advice, what would it be? Talk to recruiters even if the role doesn’t fit your profile exactly or if the company’s not on your target list. You never know what may happen in the future. Recruiters are often gatekeepers and can get you straight to hiring managers when you have no way in otherwise. And if you cultivate a good relationship with them or a hiring manager, they will go to bat for you and will remember you as they transition into new companies.
