Newly-Landed Position + Company: Director of Capital Markets at Happy Money

Prior to landing your new position, were you currently working or in-transition? I was in transition prior to joining Happy Money.

How did you get connected to the company where you landed your new role? Networking via a contact beginning at LNC.

In your estimation, what allowed you to stand-out during the interview process? Industry knowledge and preparation. I highly recommend the book 60 Seconds and You’re Hired. It helped me focus and answer questions well.

Did you encounter any challenges while being vetted for this new position?  If so, how did you overcome them? I did not have much of a local network when I left my previous position. I started attending networking events and focused on having a minimum of 10 meetings or events a week.

If you could give an in-transition executive any piece of advice, what would it be?

• Stay active.
• Make sure you network with people both in and out of work.
• Keep positive.
• Use your LinkedIn as much as possible.

What events and/or resources offered by the Executive Network have helped enhance your career? The roundtables themselves. There are a lot of very talented people who shared successful strategies and ideas.
